Modern Slavery Policy

This statement has been prepared on behalf of Honest Burgers Ltd to comply with section 54 of the modern Slavery Act 2015.

Modern Slavery has no place in our company in its entirety or anywhere in our supply chain that puts food on our plates. This is our statement – simple and direct.

WHO WE ARE

Honest Burgers Ltd is a collection of local restaurants across England and Wales supported by a shared fresh Kitchen and central office. We are proud of the food we serve and the people we work with. Our turnover exceeds the £36m threshold set by the Modern Slavery Act 2015, which means we’re required by law to publish this statement.

It is important to us that the people who grow our beef, pack our buns through to working with us are treated with dignity and respect. Our business is built upon the relationships those people make, we take that seriously in a way that goes beyond legal compliance.

OUR BELIEF

Zero tolerance isn’t a policy position. It’s a non-negotiable part of who we are. Modern Slavery does not belong in our business, our supply chain or society. We believe every person – whether they’re farming potatoes, working a shift in our restaurants or driving a delivery route to us – deserves to be treated fairly, paid properly and free from exploitation.

WHAT WE’VE PUT IN PLACE

  1. Equal opportunities & inclusion – fairness across the board.
  2. Right to work checks – every person who joins our company goes through pre employment checks before they start. No exceptions.
  3. Supplier code of conduct – our non-negotiable baseline for every business we purchase from.
  4. Payroll provider checks – working with a reputable payroll provider who flag unusual activity in relation to potential modern slavery practices.
  5. Awareness and training – our managers complete Modern Slavery training as part of their induction training and renew when appropriate (through Attensi Comply)
  6. A nominated Executive to oversee our practices, measurement and compliance

HOW WE MEASURE SUCCESS

  1. Our teams feel comfortable and are confident in raising concerns if something is wrong
  2. Our suppliers sign up to our code of conduct and they are no reports of modern slavery in their network

HOW WE WILL STAY HONEST

We will always do the right thing, not the easy thing when it comes to protecting people. We will keep learning about how to spot Modern Slavery practices, we will keep interrogating our own practices to ensure we stay honest. This statement is reviewed, updated and signed every year.

This statement is made under Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and covers Honest Burgers Ltd, for the financial year ending 31st January 2027. It has been approved by the board and signed by a director.
